4 Beauty Tips to Help you Shine This Monsoon

As we enter into the 8 th month of the year, summer is slowly retreating, which is a relief, especially if you live in southern or northern parts of India, where the Sun is at its menacing worst during summer. Cloudy skies and lightning flashes may be a sight to behold after months of scorching heat. That said, monsoon also opens a Pandora’s Box of skin care issues such as dull and dry skin. The body’s immunity decreases during monsoon, often resulting in a number of skin problems such as eczema, rashes, prickly heat boils and pimples. To help your skin breathe, many manufacturers offer quality, certified beauty products that can address skin issues such as lack of proper hydration or excess oil. Apart from shopping for cosmetic products online, you must also take proper care of your skin. To help, the post lists some handy skin care tips for monsoon. Take a look.

1. Cleanse

Dry and dusty winds are common in monsoon. Though it's difficult to avoid them (unless you stay indoors throughout the season), minimizing skin damage due to prolonged exposure is certainly in your hands. To get rid of dirt and grime that can clog your skin pores cleanse your face at least twice a day, before stepping outdoors and before going to bed. Follow up your cleaning sessions by applying a toner to balance pH levels.

2. Moisturize

If , after summer, you have locked your moisturizer back in its case, thinking you do not need it until the next season, we recommend you get it out. Just because it’s humid does not mean you do not need to moisturize, as humidity can dehydrate your skin, making it dull. To avoid forcing your oil glands go into overdrive mode to compensate for the loss of oil, moisturize your skin regularly after cleansing. To avoid overdoing it, choose a lightweight moisturizer with a matte finish.

3. Exfoliate

Over time dead skin cells, dirt and grime accumulate on your face, robbing it of its natural shine. To help your skin breathe, it is important to get rid of harsh makeup products, extra water and oil clogging skin pores. Exfoliate at least twice or thrice a week. Be gentle with your hand movements and use soft exfoliating beads, a deep cleansing brush or a mild scrub to get rid of accumulated dirt without harming the skin.

4. Stay Hydrated

Inadequate hydration can result in a lack of vitamins that help repair damaged skin. This is not good news for your skin (especially if you  have dry skin) and can make it look and feel dry. To address this problem, drink at least 8 glasses of water throughout the day, even if it means frequent urination. Keeping your skin hydrated is central to maintaining proper moisture levels that helps retain the skin’s original shine.

Parting Words

Follow these tips to avoid skin problem in  monsoon. If you have oily skin, consider using water based moisturizers that help keep a check on oil secretion.
